The final song for Eurovision 2018 has now been revealed. Today, Iriao, an ethno-jazz group from Georgia revealed their song “For You” for the Eurovision Song Contest.
“For You” is the kind of single that focuses a lot on sound. Combining polyphony with Jazz, the group has tried to offer a combination of melodies that are just pleasing to hear. When compared to songs released by other participants, “For You” stands out amongst the crowd. Opting to move against the grain, Georgia seems to place its bet on originality over trend.
On 31st December, during the New Year’s gala concert of GBP, the national broadcaster revealed that Iriao will be representing Georgia in Lisbon. Contrary to what the audience expected, Iriao was chosen as a representative via an internal selection process.
A septet, Iriao was created by David Malazonia and is known for their variety and their adherence to the Georgian language as the language for their music. Considering that Eurovision only allows 6 people on stage, the band has chosen 5 members for the performance. These include Levan Abshilava (drums, percussion), Shalva Gelekva (bass), George Abashidze (vocals), Mikheil Javakhishvili (vocals) and Bidzina Murgulia (vocals).
Now that all 43 songs have been revealed, it will be interesting to see which participant is able to grab the most attention till the D-day.
