Jah Sun & The Rising Tide unveil their brand-new album, Running Through Walls, which will be immediately followed by hitting the road.
Talking about the album and his music, Jah Sun shares, “Music represents a journey. Our music can help you relive it and maybe even revive it with your loved one. Life is short. Enjoy the good vibes and focus on positivity. Our music helps us through life, and we hope it does the same for our fans.”
Produced by Jallanzo “Dub MatriXx,” the album mirrors positive vibes as well as warm waves of love.
The Rising Tide comprises Jah Sun (lead vocals), Tony Thompson (guitar), Beau “Arrow” Sheppard (bass, harmonies), Nick “Kirbz” Kirby (drums, harmonies), and producer/multi-instrumentalist Omar “Jallanzo” Johnson.
Encompassing a dozen tracks, Running Through Walls begins with “No Profit In Peace,” opening on a cool drum shuffle and then flowing into a mid-tempo reggae rhythm. Skiffing guitars, bright horns, and a tastily oozing organ give the tune contagious textures.
Entry points include “Nothing At All,” a low-slung gleaming song full of soothing surface colors topped by Jah Sun’s deluxe voice and radiant vocal harmonies. A fat bassline and one-drop beat drive the tune’s rolling rhythm.
Bright horns provide the intro to “Rock Paper Scissors,” which segues into a dreamy, creamy tune. Jah Sun’s voice imbues the song with plush flavors, while ‘oooh oooh’ harmonies give the tune velvety washes.
The title track rolls out on a delicious blend of R&B and reggae, with tender coloration that emphasizes the warm passion of Jah Sun’s voice. A braying organ suffuses the song with luminous aromas, followed by a finessed, dazzling guitar solo.
“Walk Alone” starts off with psychedelic textures of surf rock and then moves into an alluring reggae melody rife with plush harmonies. The feel and flow of this track are addictive because of the cavernous bassline, giving the melody a rippling motion.
Luscious brass coloration and a sparkling piano launch “You’re Not Alone” into a rising and falling rhythm at once enticing and voluptuous. With its slow, swanky movement, this song delivers cashmere vocals and silky-smooth harmonies.
With Running Through Walls, Jah Sun & The Rising Tide dish out a gem of an album, pulsating with irresistible layers of captivating reggae.
