Actor-producer Paul Dano has worked with plenty of great directors and talented actors, for instance, with Jake Gyllenhaal in “Okja” and “Prisoners”. Now Dano’s hitting him up for his directorial debut in movie “Wildlife” which he co-wrote with his partner Zoe Kazan.
The new project is based on a novel by Richard Ford and will be shoot in Montana and Oklahoma in early November.
“In Richard’s book I saw myself and many others,” said Dano. “I have always wanted to make films and have always known I would make films about family. I couldn’t be happier to have such beautiful collaborators like Carey and Jake leading the way.”
Whilst Gyllenhaal and Dano have already worked together, this won’t be the first time that the “Southpaw” star appears onscreen jointly with “Suffragette” actress Carey Mulligan either. Mulligan and Gyllenhaal had small roles in “Brothers”, but it seems like they are excited about getting the chance to work together again in this adaptation.
The roles that Gyllenhaal and Mulligan will play are not yet confirmed, but the movie will be produced by Duncan and Saks for June Pictures, and Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker for Nine Stories.
Here’s the book synopsis:
When Joe Brinson was sixteen, his father moved the family to Great Falls, Montana, the setting for this harrowing, transfixing novel by the acclaimed author of Rock Springs. Filled with an abiding sense of love and family, and of the forces that test them to the breaking point, Wildlife is a book whose spare poetry and expansive vision established it as an American classic.
Go ahead and place “Wildlife” on your list of anticipated movies for next year!
