It’s been 16 years in the making, but “Gravity” has finally made it all the way to become an official single by Jesse Adams. She started writing this song when she was 7 with her friend Sara Bandkohal, and she’s been looking back at her early-written songs and coming at them with a new angle now that she’s an adult, and if this song is anything to go by, it’s truly paying off. This is the follow-up to her debut EP that she released last year, titled “Shades of Gold”.
Jesse Adams is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Hamilton, Ontario, who looked back to her younger 7-year-old self and took inspiration from those childhood-written songs. In doing so, it’s given her a huge platform to release music in her own way, adding maturity to those childhood songs and memories, tackling them from a different perspective, and giving the tracks new light. Her music has been making waves all around the world, where she’s gone on to gain thousands of Spotify streams, with “Perfect Mess” becoming her most-streamed track on the platform. Her beautiful voice effortlessly showcases the type of artist she is and we’re sure her emotional honesty that is heard within her tracks is set to be relatable to all of her listeners. She is gearing up to release her debut album soon, which is set to be titled “Gravity”, and should include a total of 13 tracks.
Talking about this track, Jesse Adams said: “Life isn’t stagnant. Just when you think you’re winning, you lose and vice versa. It’s unpredictable. It’s out of our control like gravity.”

Written by Jesse Adams and Sara Bandkohal, whilst it has been produced by Will Crann and Emma Whale, “Gravity” is a sweet-sounding indie-pop song with this awesome singer-songwriter impressing vocally and emotionally, sending chills to her fans and listeners – it’s impossible not to hear how much this track means to her. She starts the song off with an unforgettable vocal run with the title lyric, before launching into the first verse accompanied by soft piano chords. The track fully kicks in rhythmically with powerful violin strings, drum beats, a guitar, finger clicks, and a variety of other sounds to create this addicting energy that emphasises Jesse Adams’ incredible voice. Lyrically impressive with some absolutely amazing rhymes, “Gravity” is all about how someone can bring you down in life, and that toxicity is not needed at all in anyone’s life – we all should be lifting each other up, and Jesse Adams reflects on that person who was pulling her down and she’s realised that she can rise up, and that awesome last verse is bound to stick with us all.
As for the music video, which has been directed by Saad Sheikh with Micha Jensen acting as Production Assistant, we watch Jesse Adams looking absolutely beautiful in every single shot as she performs the hell out of this track, giving us the stage presence we could expect from her if we ever saw her live. The visual has a dark theme running throughout but with glinting energy showcasing that we all have potential in this world. Jesse Adams plays a variety of different characters who all have their imperfections and we watch them refuse to come across bland even though they all have the potential to be stagnant. Iconic acting from the get-go, Jesse Adams doesn’t disappoint at all in this, and the direction couldn’t be any better, with the music video going on to be edited to perfection, in line with the beat and melody of the song, which only adds to this dark atmospheric vibe.
