2009 X Factor winner Joe Mcelderry was yesterday a target for body shamers.
The 24 year old pop/classical cutie Joe appeared on ITV’s Lorraine yesterday morning, wearing a white jacket.
And promptly after the interview aired, Joe was subject to articles being written about him calling the toned star overweight.
The Daily Mail posted an article showing a photo of the singer sitting on the couch, the photo was taken at an unflattering angle and the media took this as a sign that the slim Geordie was fat.
Taking to Instagram the ‘Ambitions’ singer posted this pic
With the caption: Just took my full figured little ass to the gym and thought I take a little pic ??? #dailymail #fail
Joe who was mentored by fellow Geordie Cheryl Fernadez-Versini on The X Factor in 2009, has gone on to have great success and is now starring in the musical TOMMY.
It’s just a shame that the media always focuses on celebrities weight. Young people have enough body issues without Newspaper articles being written calling stars too fat or too thin. They should be more aware that these sorts of “stories” can be very harmful to young people and very rude to the person they are written about.
