Jon Favreau set to return to Marvel Cinematic Universe

It’s been a good day for Jon Favreau, whose latest directorial effort The Jungle Book roared its way to the top of the box office, and on top of that is the exciting news that he is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as an Executive Producer on the currently in production Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2.

Favreau directed the first two Iron Man films, and films were met with acclaim from the fans and the critics, and both found financial success; arguably, Favreau was even more instrumental than Avengers director Joss Whedon in launching the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the cataclysmic heights that it has reached!

For the third Iron Man film, Shane Black filled the directors chair, after Favreau left it vacant to pursue other endeavours, such as directing Chef and The Jungle Book.

Six years after Iron Man 2’s original release, Favreau is at last ready to return to the fold, speaking about his new role as executive producer exclusive to Digital Spy.

“I’m going to be executive producing the Avengers films with the Russo brothers, which I’m very excited about. I talk to them about it all the time. I’ve worked both in front of and behind the camera with Marvel and I really love what they’re doing right now. It’s a really exciting time over there” said Favreau, before going on the praise the job the Russo brothers did on directing the upcoming Captain America: Civil War film. “I’ve seen a rough cut of Civil War and it’s fantastic. We’re constantly looking for things to do together, and now I’m freed up”

Though he was full of praise and seemingly eager to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a creative role, Favreau remained coy about whether or not he’d direct another Superhero film, saying that he’d already spent a “Big chunk” of his career dedicated to that kind of film, and that filming the two Iron Man films back to back inhibited his ability to explore other projects, as they took up too much time.

Well, we can’t wait to see what Marvel’s got coming, and we’re even more excited now Jon Favreau is involved again!
