Singer-songwriter, Jorja Smith, has just released the video for her song, ‘The One’.
The emotional track is from her debut studio album, ‘Lost & Found’ which features 12 songs and even entered the top three on the Official Album Charts.
In the song, Jorja breaks down what the world is made up of: choosers, takers and begging heart breakers. She explains that even if she finds ‘the one’, she doesn’t want to need someone or depend on someone that could tie her down.
The video only emphasises her point with her incredible and energetic performance.
The video director, Hector Dockrill, explains: “The track really inspired me to try and visualise what it’s like to keep getting pulled back into a relationship. With the concept I wanted to leave the question: what has happened? I also felt the video should be beautifully simple to let Jorja’s incredible energy and performance drive the video, which she naturally did.”
Jorja – who has a distinctively soulful voice – has released not one, but two remixes of ‘The One’, putting a completely different spin on the gentle and passionate song; one by High Contrast and another by Spyro.
The 21-year-old is currently on a world-wide tour performing her album.
She has featured on two songs from Canadian rapper, Drake’s album, ‘More Life’ and also released, ‘Let Me Down’ in 2018 featuring iconic grime MC, Stormzy.
The youngster won the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award in 2018 and is now among nominees for ‘Best New Artist’ for the Grammy Awards in February 2019.
