LGBTQ+ singer/songwriter Jules Paymer has shared their single “Mommy Issues” just in time for the summer. The single is also released alongside a cinematic and comedic music video.
“Mommy Issues” is a satirical anthem all about dating someone way older than yourself in an effort to deal with past traumas and issues. Jules confides, “I was seeing a girl who was WAY too old for me and was trying to convince myself that I wanted to be with her. I think deep down she was actually just satisfying my messed-up relationship with my mom. I think maybe she was helping me heal some old wounds.” With punk rock soundscapes under a pop-laden hooky chorus sung with a punchy delivery, “Mommy Issues” is the fun and naughty song of the summer.
In the music video, Jules is seen on their therapist’s couch in the middle of a therapy session. Jules’ mind soon goes to a wild place, imagining a hot make out session and a crazy party in that same room. The music video mirrors the same fun yet boldly raw narrative.
Jules Paymer first began sharing music in 2021 with their debut single entitled “Therapy”. Since then, the songwriter and musician has garnered a celebrity fanbase including Haley Williams of Paramore who shared their last music video “The Daughter That My Mother Wanted”.
