This week has seen many great music releases, and Karmen’s new track is certainly one of the best of them. The new single is titled “Play Me” and features British-Jamaican reggae artist, Stylo G. The song follows up Karmen’s previous track “Lock My Hips” which featured Krishane, and Stylo G’s previous single “Designer” which was a collaboration with Govana.
Karmen, real name Carmen Simionescu, daughter of well-known Romanian singer and actor Adrian Minune, has been going strong in her home country of Romania ever since she signed with Global Records who has INNA, Antonia, Carla’s Dreams, Delia, Irina Rimes, and The Motans, on its roster. Her previous track, “Lock My Hips“, became a total hit in Romania, ranking in the Top 5 of Romania’s Radio Airplay Chart and number on Romania’s Top Airplay 100, peaking at number two. Her other singles include her addictive debut “You Got It”, follow-up “Minte-Ma”, her collaboration with Achi “Viciul Meu”, and the unforgettable track “Shake It“.
As for Stylo G, real name Jason McDermott, he has had hits in the UK with “Soundbwoy” being his biggest hit, reaching number 18 on the UK Singles Chart, his other charted songs are “Move Back”, “Call Mi A Leader”, and “My Number 1 (Love Me, Love Me, Love Me)” which featured Gyptian. His biggest feature was on Clean Bandit’s “Come Over”, he’s also featured on tracks by Jodie Connor, Sub Focus, and Pixie Lott. He’s one who continues to release music and we’re sure another hit is just around the corner for him.
This single was written by Achi Petre, Adelina Stanga, Krishane, Stylo G, and Vlad Lucan. As for the awesome music video, which is set within an arcade, it has been directed by Khaled Mokhtar, he also acted as the director of photography, whilst Loops Production handled production.
Watch Karmen’s Music Video For “Play Me” Featuring Stylo G Here:
Once again, Karmen impresses with her vocal easily showcasing herself as an artist. The music has an eastern European-feel to it with some Asian dance vibes mixed in. This talented Romanian female singer has some hidden soul in her voice as she continues down her dance style mixed with R&B. She’s really making a name for herself by combining these two genres. Stylo G easily adds his reggae verse into this, making it fit perfectly.
The music video takes place at an arcade. We watch Karmen’s love interest receive a pass to “Thrill Arcade” from Stylo G. Inside, he walks past various arcade games from slot machines to Ice Ball to air hockey, ending up at the Fast & Furious car racing game, right next to where Karmen is playing Tank! Tank! Tank!, this is where the flirting begins, as they’re the only people there. Thing is, they never actually play these games, although we do see her love interest inserting a coin. Alongside, the flirting throughout the narrative, we also have a brilliant dance sequence between Karmen and another female dancer, as well as an energy-thrived performance piece by Karmen and Stylo G during the latter’s verse. The ending sees Pac-Man claiming it’s “Game Over”.
“Play Me” is available to download and stream right now through Global Records. We can’t wait to see what else Karmen has in store for us in 2019.
