French-born, DJ and producer Wes, aka Kill Them With Colour, releases his new single, “Musa,” via Hurry Up Slowly, a vibrant track straight out of the tropical jungle dancefloors of Tulum.
Kill Them With Colour shares, “‘Musa’ is the re-birth of the Kill Them With Colour project. These are the sounds and influences of my childhood that I’m excited to express to the world on what this project was truly meant to be for me. Elated for this journey to pick up steam with one of my all-time favourite labels.”
Kill Them With Colour started mixing music as a kid while growing up in Trinidad. He got swept up in the island’s music scene and it wasn’t long into his teenage years before he’d developed an insatiable thirst for crate digging — flipping through record after record picking out the dancefloor gems that would further ignite his passion for music. What started out as a fascination for music at a young age, soon grew into an interest in the recording process, which then led to production and remixing.
With influences like Disclosure, Pablo Fierro, The Deepshakerz, Silvano Del Gado and DJ Chus, Kill Them With Colour’s sound fuses elements of percussion-heavy Afro, Tribal, techno-house, and house music into contagious sonic concoctions.
“Musa” opens on a galvanizing beat topped by exotic vocal inflexions. A thumping kick-drum drives the infectious rhythm with a heart-pounding cadence as crisp percussive accents add crackling textures. The pushing bassline provides the matrix for a pulsating synth line, imbuing the tune with electrifying dance energy.
Kill Them With Colour has it going on! Blending thick rhythmic throbs with dizzying dynamics, “Musa” vibrates with irresistible momentum.
