Kris James has released the music video for his debut single, ‘Eyes Open’.
Directed by Good Boy Wolf, the powerful visual reflects the emotional abuse experienced by men in a relationship. The visual focuses on a man (played by CBBC star Richard Wisker) and woman who are all smiles at the beginning, however, things soon take a sour turn with the lady losing her temper and clearly becoming abusive.
Whilst the visual doesn’t actually show any violent scenes as such, the way it has been filmed cleverly shows the impact it can have on a relationship. We see the woman lashing out at the camera, whilst the man cowers in fear.
However, there is a positive twist in the end when the man manages to break free from the situation. Scenes of Kris performing are also intertwined throughout, which adds to the emotion of the song.
Speaking to Wonderland about the video, Kris said: “There have been so many stories about men taking their own lives because of abuse by their loved ones, and I want to raise awareness for this.”
