Following the release of their mixtape ‘Sun Joint’ over the summer, Lion Babe are back with a re-worked version of Tom Jones’ ‘She’s a Lady’.
The cover is the soundtrack to H&M’s new Autumn Collection 2016 campaign, which celebrates women from all walks of life and beauty in all forms.
Lion Babe’s frontwoman Jillian Hervey stars in the campaign alongside Lauren Hutton, Neelam Gill, Fatima Pinto and Hari Nef. The campaign highlights women at their most fearless, bad-ass, independent and free-willed.
Girl power at its finest, the advert includes a real diverse representation of women. As well as a variety of body shapes, different races, ages and sexuality are also portrayed. It’s refreshing to see an advertisement which not only includes a wide spectrum of women, but also depicts them redefining the stereotypical female “norms”.
Of the campaign, Jillian said: “Celebrating women is inherent to me. Their uniqueness, their grace, their resilience and their style, so I love that H&M came to us to reinvent the classic ‘She’s a Lady’ by Tom Jones into a contemporary moment and more importantly from the ladies directly.”
Lion Babe have been extremely busy this year, having recently finished their first US headline tour as well as performing across the international festival circuit this summer, included a coveted spot at Glastonbury. This new ad campaign is the icing on the cake for the New York duo.
