We have a brand new single from Loïc Nottet, titled “On Fire”, and it’s just as brilliant as his previous singles and debut album. It’s been almost a year since his previous release, Christmas song “Go To Sleep”, but it has been worth the wait because we fell in love with this song from the very first listen. Also, Loïc Nottet isn’t disappointing, he’s released a short graphic novel on Instagram to coincide with the release, a new merch store inspired from the track, and he is currently filming a music video.
Loïc Nottet is best known for representing Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song “Rhythm Inside”, where he placed fourth with 217 points. Prior to Eurovision, he was a contestant on the third season of The Voice Belgique, where he came second; as for after Eurovision, he was a contestant on the sixth season of Danse avec les stars (the French version of Dancing With The Stars / Strictly Come Dancing), where he went on to win the show. He dropped his debut album Selfocracy in March 2017 which gained critical acclaim and was also named as one of our favourite albums of 2017. Now, he’s back with a brand new era, and we’re so ready because he is on fire with this new single “On Fire”.
The song has been written by Loïc Nottet and Sacha Skarbek, whilst production was handled by SkyDancers.
Listen To Loïc Nottet’s “On Fire” Single Here:
This track has a peaceful instrumental start which is followed up with verses that tell a story. Loïc Nottet’s voice is near-perfection as usual, and his ability to capture us into the narrative with his vocals is beyond amazing and intricate. The chorus switches it up, almost to burning as we feel the flames of his words and truly believe that he will get back up and “light up like a flare”. The song is all about strength, with the verses painting a story of a boy and a girl, the former was someone who didn’t belong whereas the latter had dreams others believed she had no chance at reaching for; as the pre-chorus start, they gain confidence, determined to show everyone that they’re capable of all they want to achieve.
We love Loïc Nottet for this message behind “On Fire”, everyone deserves confidence and motivation to reach their true potential. We’ll all will get to where we want to be, in the end, as long as we never give up, and keep on burning.
On Fire The Comic
Spreading more confidence and bravery, Loïc Nottet has deleted all his photos from his Instagram account and published a comic for “On Fire”, taking up a total of 87 Instagram images, we watch a short story unfold, as a group people come across a dragon’s cave, the group is led by a character that looks a lot like Loïc Nottet, himself.
Hidden behind some of the photos is a secondary piece of content, either an image or a video, you’ll have to find them though. They seem to tease a music video, or that is what we gather from them.
“On Fire” is available to download and stream right now, via Sony Music Entertainment France. As for the “On Fire” Comic, that is available to view, for free, on Loïc Nottet’s Instagram account. We expect a music video is on its way, as he has been teasing a visual accompaniment.
