Zara Holland, aka Miss Great Britain has been stripped of her title after scenes on ITV’s Love Island showed her and a fellow housemate getting intimate.
The organisation “Miss Great Britain” announced last night that Zara no longer held the title she so proudly flaunts on television every evening.
They said in an official statement: “Following recent actions within the ITV2 show ‘Love Island’ it is with deep regret that we, the Miss Great Britain Organisation, have to announce that Zara Holland has formally been de-crowned as Miss Great Britain 2015/16.”
The organisation stated that they take pride in promoting strong, positive female role models in their winners, and after her actions Zara, simply could not be promoted as a positive role model ‘moving forward’.
Replacing Zara is the first runner up, Deone Robertson. Miss Great Britain entrusted the title to Deone adding that they “are confident she will do a fantastic job during her short reign.”
Zara has proudly dropped in to conversation many times that she is Miss Great Britain, however this can no longer be said. Sleeping with Alex Bowen led to the stripping of her title, the organisation recognised that it was okay to make mistakes, and noted that Zara had extra responsibility compared to the other housemates and simply did not uphold the image expected of an ambassador of Great Britain.
Love Island has not yet responded to the statement from Miss Great Britain, yet tonights episode could present the opportunity for Zara and the TV show to acknowledge the de-crowning of the contestant and now former Miss Great Britain.
