Lukas Graham is Going to Take The World By Storm

If you’re from Northern Europe you may have heard of a band called Lukas Graham. If not, then let us introduce you to one of the bands that we think will take the world by storm in the near future.

The band is from Denmark and consists of four members; Mark Falgren (drummer), Magnus Larsson (bassist), Kasper Daugaard (pianist) and front man Lukas Graham Forchhammer. The band has previously described their music genre to be “ghetto pop” because it’s a mixture of several different styles. They already have two albums out, Lukas Graham and Lukas Graham (Blue Album), both of which have several platinum certifications in Denmark.

Although the band has been tremendously successful in Denmark and their neighbouring countries they now want to take on the world. In late 2013 Lukas Graham signed a contract with the American record label Warner Bros. Records that made it possible for them to release their music worldwide. However, there were a lot of negotiations with the label because, unlike other bands, Lukas Graham were not willing to compromise their integrity just to make money and become famous. Warner Bros. Records offered the band one million Euros, which also meant that they would lose the rights to their songs in Europe. The lead singer of the band, Lukas Graham Forchhammer, has previously stated: “Well, what the hell do I need a million Euros for? I have never been economically motivated. It is also what shocks those Americans that we are going to work with now. I do not want a huge advance and a lot of money, I want to have the right team around me. I do not want to owe anybody anything.” Instead of money they wanted time to create music that meant something and that they could be proud of.

All of that time seems to have worked in their favour. They worked hard to create their sophomore album, the Blue Album, which has been critically acclaimed since its release in June. Graham’s powerful voice and phenomenal lyrics are two of the reasons why the album has been such a massive success in Denmark. It now looks like that their success is going to continue worldwide. Just last week, their newest single, 7 Years, was number two on Spotify’s most viral tracks list in the UK, Canada and the United States, beating Justin Bieber’s latest single, Sorry.
