Ahead of the release of her debut album, singer-songwriter Mae Muller has treated fans to another taste of her LP in the form of the closer, ‘Written By A Woman’.
The track shows yet another side to Mae’s artistry, further cementing that her debut album Sorry I’m Late is going to be an incredibly versatile body of work. ‘Written By A Woman’ is a gorgeous mid-tempo closing track which speaks about the female gaze and what women find attractive in a man.
Of the new track, Mae said: “It’s one of my favourite tracks on the album, it’s all about the female gaze and speaking about things from a woman’s perspective, which feels right to have it as the final track. I just think that a lot of the time, what men think women find attractive is not true at all – we don’t necessarily want an alpha male, we want someone who’s in touch with their feminine side and who isn’t afraid to show emotion. Being gentle is sexy as hell! There’s enough music out there that caters for the male gaze, so I wanted to write about what I find attractive.”
To coincide with the release of ‘Written By A Woman’, Mae has also unveiled a glamorous Bridgerton-style lyric video for the track. Someone call Shonda Rhimes and get Mae a guest appearance ASAP!
Mae’s debut album, Sorry I’m Late, is now due for release on September 29 following slight delays. Whilst fans have a little while longer to wait, they’re able to enjoy ‘Written By A Woman’ as well as previous releases ‘MTJL’, ‘Better Days’, ‘I Just Came To Dance’, ‘Me, Myself & I’ and Eurovision bop ‘I Wrote A Song’.
