Maggie Lindemann has released her first new music of 2019, experimenting with her sound on big, bold track Friends Go.
Turning to a ska-vibed sound, Friends Go weirdly to us sounds like it would fit well in a big vibrant circus tent with performers showing off their skills to a loud, enthusiastic crowd (listen and you’ll definitely see what we mean!). Lyrically this track sees Maggie singing of “where did all my friends go?” reminiscing of the days long ago full of happier memories, which have now turned in to lonely days but ones where she’s put herself first. This definitely isn’t a sound we’re used to from the Obsessed singer, but it’s one we’re absolutely loving.
Friends Go is a taster of Maggie Lindemann’s debut full-length release which is hopefully on the horizon this year. Taking musical risks and shaking up your sound is something Maggie Lindemann has experimented with before through the likes of captivating dark-popHuman, but this latest effort takes it one step further. Currently supporting Sabrina Carpenter on tour, we can’t help but wish Maggie would also announce some headline dates of her own. Maybe 2019 will see a European tour and an album? We can only dream!
