    Manchester City Sign John Stones

After weeks of speculation and an embarrassing slip up by Manchester City (they prematurely included the player in their Champions League squad) John Stones has officially signed for the Manchester club.

The England defender has become the most expensive English defender and the second most expensive in world football after signing for a huge £47.5m from Everton.

Stones has signed a six-year contact at the Etihad and will wear the number 24 shirt.

Speaking to the official Manchester City website about his record breaking transfer the 22-year-old said:  “I’m absolutely delighted to sign for City and now the deal’s done I’m looking forward to the next stage in my career.

“I’ve obviously seen what’s going on here at the Etihad, it’s an ambitious Club with a great manager so I can’t wait to get stuck in and help achieve the goals.

“I know it will be tough getting a place in this team but I’m determined to become the best player I can be and help us to success.

“I had a wonderful time with Everton and wish them and their fans all the best but now I’ll give my all for City.”

New Man City manager Pep Guardiola has also spoken of his delight at signing the highly rated centre back, saying:  “We want to help John show his quality with us and improve on what he has already achieved.

“I like the way he plays the game and I’m looking forward to welcoming him into the squad.”

The huge transfer comes after John Stones failed to play one minute for England at Euro 2016 but is also on the back of a standout season at Everton where he played 46 times for the Toffees.

The young star will join fellow England stars Raheem Sterling, Joe Hart and Fabian Delph at the Etihad.
