On the first Monday of May, the Met Gala, the massive and fanciest theme party of the year, takes place at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Several stunning looks adorned the Met Gala red carpet in 2022, as it is one of the biggest annual entertainment and fashion events. The theme of the 2022 Met Gala was “Gilded Glamour,” which everyone watched in anticipation and left with blown minds.
Gilded Age fashion was gracious and sophisticated because of the thriving economy and prosperity of the northern U.S. in the late 1800s. Therefore, the fashion sense, styling, and clothing were elite, distinguished, elegant, and magnificent. Therefore, without further ado, let’s don our fashion hats and move on to judging which celebrity nailed the Met Gala 2022 assignment.
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are indeed one of the most-loved power couples in Hollywood. They are certainly a match made in heaven with their enticing personas, alluring charm, modern fairytale-like love story, support system, and excellent wit to complement their splendor. Yes, as though they are two peas in a pod.
They did a wonderful job taking center stage as co-chairs of the Met Gala 2022 with their electrifying, dynamic ensembles, and we are head over heels in love. Ryan Reynolds looked incredibly dapper and orderly in his crisp velvet suit, while Blake stole the show and had everyone turn around to have another glimpse. Blake Lively donned a floor-sweeping Atelier Versace warm rose-hued copper long-trail gown with an enormous side-bow, and her outfit intensified the “Gilded Glamour” theme of the Met Gala 2022 with such a profound and thought-provoking concept.
She took inspiration from extraordinaire New York- the city of diversity and dynamism. From the Empire State Building to the constellation-painted ceilings at Grand Central Station and the landmark of NYC-the Statue of Liberty, she paid homage to these fabulous architectural beauties of the city with the dash of her grandeur. However, she veered things up midway by cascading the bow into a dazzling blue-hued skirt and whirling it around like a Disney princess.

Blake has always served us the most iconic and unforgettable Met Gala outfits throughout the years (we’re still not over her 2018 supreme queen look), and if this were a prom, she would be the queen. Many unsung heroes assisted her in preparing for the big night, and she, being the humble queen that she is, was grateful to each of them and recognized the efforts of her “Dream Glam Crew” by giving them a shout-out. She completed her stunning, immaculate nude glam makeup using Charlotte Tilbury products and accessorized it with matching long gloves and chandelier earrings.

She has consistently brought us the most sensual styles in town, from sheer corset jumpsuits to pearl white satins to ornamented jeweled dresses and feathery wraps.
Dakota dazzled 50 shades of gorgeous with her theatrical appearance on the red carpet, donning a custom Gucci sheer lace catsuit adorned with all-over beaded silver fringes and layered with a velvet, burgundy-hued draped robe. The 15-time Grammy Award winner, and one of the most talented celebrities in Hollywood, Alicia Keys, brought the New York City skyline to the 2022 Met Gala red carpet. Alicia Keys’ Met Gala 2022 ensemble was an ode to the beloved city in her ‘New York State of Mind.’ She donned a Ralph Lauren shimmery black-and-silver, crystal-embellished gown with a floor-sweeping, gorgeous cape that had the NYC skyline embroidered on it. It adorned the dramatic yet exquisite ensemble with over 200,000 crystals, intensifying her look and the theme to another level and leaving everyone astonished.
Cardi B
Gilded Glamour meets Versace meets the Bronx. Cardi B looked like a glistening golden goddess in her Versace ensemble, which was curated by the renowned Italian fashion designer Donatella Versace and her crew, who spent over 1300 hours working on her extensive look for the big night. To say the least, their efforts paid off well as she strode down the red carpet looking fierce, strikingly beautiful, extravagant, and magnificent.
Kacey Musgraves
It’s the perfect time to sing and hum along with us… “for I can’t help falling in love with you,” while adoring the timeless beauty of Kacey Musgraves, from her regal, vintage look at the Met Gala 2022 red carpet. Kacey attended the inauguration of the exhibition “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” in a custom Prada silver-embellished black bodycon gown. The ensemble allowed us to see “Gilded Glamour” in the late 1800s through the prism of the “Elvis” 1960s. She captured hearts with her flawless look, which included a stunning mix of De Beers jewels and retro makeup.
Ariana DeBose
Ariana’s look and our feelings can’t be summed up better than what she stated herself, “I’ve had several moments of absolute speechlessness balanced with the hugest amount of gratitude, verbally communicated with an excessive amount of thank yous.” American fashion designer and creative director of the fashion house Moschino, Jeremy Scott, did a stupendous work in curating this Met Gala look which has been nothing short of extraordinary. It is “Gilded Glamour,” it is fun, and it’s a sculptural beauty that brought Ariana to the center stage.
Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish wore Gucci to accentuate her “Gilded Glamour,” drawing influence from the 1885 “Madame Paul Poirson” painting by John Singer Sargent. With her customized upcycled gown and fitting heels, she was undoubtedly one of those celebrities who understood the Met Gala 2022 assignment right. Billie Eilish wore a custom upcycled Gucci Duchesse satin corseted gown designed by Alessandro Michele, with lace underlay, a gathered Duchesse satin skirt with padded bustle and a tonal Duchesse corsage. She finished her look with an embellished choker and a fancy hair updo, matching the era.
Conan Gray
Conan made a spectacular Met Gala debut in a stunning see-through silver Valentino costume, honoring his vow to give it his all. He looked flawless in his attire, from the embellished tulle with long, silver bling pants, accessorized with a long, flowy cape, loose curly hair, and high-platform white heels. Conan encapsulated the essence of the Gilded Age perfectly with such elegance and a splash of glamour.
Lizzo
It’s’ “About Damn Time” (yes, pun intended) for you to acknowledge Lizzo’s many talents apart from just singing, as she is emerging as one of the most alluring and fashionable women in 2022. Lizzo looked majestic in a Thom Browne black and gold ensemble, and everything about the outfit just stole our hearts. Everything complimented her vivacious style and confidence, from the massive black cape with gold embellishments to the corset style dress to the $55,000 flute, making her stand out from the crowd.
Megan Thee Stallion
Megan Thee Stallion has left us breathless every time she walks the red carpet, and the Met Gala 2022 fits the bill perfectly. Megan looked lavishly encrusted with sequins, glass beads, crystals, and stones in a custom embroidered metallic strapless Moschino body-con gown with a long train, side cut-outs, and slit detail. It was absolutely stunning and looked elegant and classy, with glamorous makeup and a feathery shoulder capelet that echoed the feather tones worn by many affluent women throughout the Gilded Age.
Natasha Poonawalla
We can only describe this golden ensemble by Natasha Poonawalla as DIVINE! Heavenly divine — truly, deeply, and gloriously divine! It was a clever approach to amplify the gilded appearance by incorporating traditional Indian influences with this exquisitely adorned saree by Sabyasachi, a world-renowned fashion designer. Natasha looked like a golden sculpture draping this magnificent, custom-made Sabyasachi golden saree with corset-style golden armor with astronomic vibes, accentuated by matching glam makeup, jewels, bangles, and manicure.
