The Brits is one of the biggest nights in music each year, pulling in an audience of typically 5.8 million. It is also host to some of the world’s largest stars, with Little Mix, The 1975 and Emeli Sandé all confirmed to perform at the 2017 awards ceremony.
This year, Canadian singer Michael Bublé was set to host the event. However, just this week it has been revealed that Michael will no longer be hosting. He will instead be spending his time caring for his four year old son Noah. Heartbreakingly, he was diagnosed with liver cancer in November. Noah is thought to be going through four months of chemotherapy to try and fight the illness.
A source close to the star and his family told British tabloid The Sun:
“It was a difficult call but Michael has decided to pull out of hosting the Brit Awards. Out of respect for Michael the producers gave him as much time as he needed to make the decision, which they completely understood.”
It is not yet known who will be replacing Michael as the host. However, fans of the Brits will no doubt understand the reason why he has stepped down from the hosting position. Michael is a family man first and foremost and a performer second to that.
So what will happen this year?
Last year the event was hosted by presenting duo Ant and Dec and the year before The Brits were hosted by actor turned talkshow host James Corden.
The Brits will be taking place on 22nd February at the O2 Arena, London. Tickets are still available, and voting is still open at http://www.brits.co.uk/. You will also be able to watch The Brits on ITV.
CelebMix would like to once again send well wishes to Michael Bublé, his wife Luisana Lopilato, Noah and family at this time.
