Miya Folick is back with a topical new track called ‘Malibu Barbie’, which centres around the impact of society’s unrealistic expectations on yourself.
Armed with a hypnotic melody, ‘Malibu Barbie’ is a dreamy and relatable release from Miya. The thought-provoking lyrics and the singer-songwriter’s unique vocal take centre stage and it’s hard not to be completely captivated by Miya’s talent.
Speaking about the track, Miya said: “‘Malibu Barbie’ is about my exploration of what being a woman means to me—it’s a longing for an ideal. It’s realizing that I can go to an extreme in pursuit of physical perfection, look around, and realize that I haven’t changed. I am still longing and seeking something more. Who I am is not a place at which I can arrive.”
