MKTO – the American duo made up of Malcolm Kelley and Tony Oller – are back with their incredible new single ‘How Can I Forget’.
Marking their first release in two years, ‘How Can I Forget’ is a chilled guitar-led offering which sees Malcolm and Tony reminisce about a previous relationship. Armed with a nostalgic feel, the track builds towards an anthemic chorus which will be ingrained in your mind after just one listen.
‘How Can I Forget’ allows both Tony and Malcolm to show off their signature vocals, whilst also showcasing the growth and maturity in the duo’s sound. If this track is anything to go by, then the new era of music from MKTO is set to sweep us off our feet.
The duo have also released the music video for ‘How Can I Forget’. Directed by Izak Rappaport, the visual sees Malcolm and Tony hooked up to machines which allow them to remember specific memories from their previous relationships.
The visual switches between bright scenes of the duo re-living memories on the beach with their significant others, and grainy shots of them hooked up to the machines. As much as they might want to move on from the past, it’s impossible for them to forget.
‘How Can I Forget’ is very relatable both in terms of the song and its video. Anyone who has ever been in a relationship will resonate with the feeling of being unable to forget the memories created together, as the smallest of things can trigger the biggest of reminders.

Whilst ‘How Can I Forget’ is predominantly a song about a relationship, in an interview with Billboard, Malcolm also dedicated the song to MKTO’s loyal fans who continued to support the duo despite taking a hiatus. “To know that there are millions of streams of our songs we have put out previously and knowing that there is still support for MKTO, it was only right we put out new music,” he said.
We couldn’t be happier about MKTO’s return and it’s safe to say that the duo are stronger than ever before. We can’t wait to hear more from Malcolm and Tony very soon.
