MoeDeLL Releases ‘Porch’

Country-Americana singer-songwriter MoeDeLL recently released a new single, entitled “Porch.” The track is the first release from his forthcoming album, There It Is, slated to drop later this year.

With a sound spanning rock, funk, and reggae, MoeDeLL’s current sound travels down country roads, a direction influenced by Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and Eric Church.

As MoeDeLL says, “When people get off work and head to the local watering hole for a beer, they don’t want to decipher words and meanings. They just want to relax and listen to a good catchy tune. So even if my lyrics have some deep underlying meaning, I try to present them in a very simple way. I’ve been writing for quite some time, but when I switched genres in 2014, I feel like my songwriting became more of who I really am, particularly when it came to lyrics.  I feel at home writing about day to day life and the simple things. ‘Porch’ for example is just a take on being with someone you love and experiencing life together.”

While growing up, MoeDeLL listened to lots of country music, like Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard. Still, when began his music career, he started out as a bad boy rocker, sharing the stage with Antigone Rising, Better Than Ezra, Cheap Trick, and Blind Melon.  Much later, when he got sober, he sat down and listened to a Waylon CD someone gave him. Then and there, he decided this was his kind of music.

“Porch” opens on twangy guitar riffs and filtered vocals flowing into a smooth, potent So-Cal country rock tune full of shimmering guitars and a delicious steel guitar that infuses the tune with drawling hues and gleaming energy.

MoeDeLL’s good-old-boy voice, rich and textured with twangy inflections, is easy to listen to, affluent with smooth, rounded surfaces.

The lyrics convey the simple luxury of sitting on the front porch with the one you love.

“You and me / We’re doing fine / Hanging around / Just watching the world go by / You and me / We’re doing alright / Sitting up here / Watching the world go by.”

“Porch” is an alluring tune, full of creamy laidback comfort and an infectious rhythm. MoeDeLL really kicks it down on this track.
