Indie-rock rarely gets chilled vibes but Moxon is completely delivering with his awesome new single “Vinnie’s Tune”. Making the backing beat the centred piece with a varied use of instruments that takes it to a whole new level, Moxon is completely putting his own stamp on this genre and within the music industry as a whole. This is the follow-up to Moxon’s previous single “Caught in Your Rain”.
Moxon, real name Jodan Lee Moxon, is an Indie-Rock artist hailing from Sheffield and now based in South London. With his distinctive style that combines chilled, dynamic guitar loops and infectious beats with honest vocals that resonate with the struggles of his generation, Moxon has made a name for himself in the music industry. During the lockdown, he dedicated himself to recording and crafting his sound, resulting in the release of his debut single “No Chances” from his bedroom studio. Subsequent releases like “Flying High”, “Meet Me in The Bathroom”, “Pushing Paper”, and “Exit Door” have further solidified his reputation, gaining praise from various radio DJs and setting indie dancefloors ablaze. His 2021 single “No Chances” has gone on to become his most-streamed single to date. Moxon’s passionate performances have drawn sold-out crowds, and as his popularity continues to grow, catching him in an intimate venue remains an experience not to be missed.
Written by Jodan Lee Moxon, “Vinnie’s Tune” starts off with intricate instrumental chords that showcase his artistry, with infectious guitar loops, dynamic chilled beats, laid-back drum grooves, and some incredible reverb that solidifies every listener into hearing the full track, all before his awesome vocals come in. Easily British indie-rock with a unique twist, Moxon wraps his vocals around the tuneful chilled backing track, effortlessly telling us a story with his relatable lyricism. He delves into telling the story of one of his characters, named “Vinnie”, who has been inspired by the various pub punters he has chatted to during his gigs. Whilst this character is someone we feel like we know and can understand, somewhat, Moxon continues to impress with his instrumental delivery, allowing the track to breathe with instrumental sections filled with addictive lead guitar chords that are bound to blow the listener away. The rhythmic tone has a slight reggae feel to it whilst exploding indie-rock plays out around Vinnie’s world – this is his tune flowing through the concrete jungle he is living within. If there’s one track that we need to see performed live, this year, it’s this one from Moxon, “Vinnie’s Tune” is bound to be an epic atmospheric experience.
