South African producer DJ Xtee, aka Kagiso Mokgari, joins forces with ET Boys’ vocalist Tacboy and Grammy-nominated trumpeter Ron Haynes on their new single/visualizer, “If I Drop.”
Released via Pepper Gomez’s Wake Up! Music, “If I Drop” follows on the heels of DJ Xtee’s “I’m in Love (with your body), his first collaboration with Tacboy.
Speaking about “If I Drop,” label boss Pepper Gomez says, “It has been a pleasure to work with this all-star lineup! They have created fire for the dance floor that can only be called Nu House by way of South Africa via Miami and Chicago! This track will keep your summer sizzle going until you ‘drop.’ There are four mixes with this release, which should keep the DJs happy – and if the DJs are happy, the dancers are happy!”
Known for his magnetic nu-house music, as well as dipping his toe in other genres, DJ Xtee is a celebrity in South Africa, where he is a South African Music Ambassador for Music2Deal, a global music network designed to connect artists globally for music business, collaborations, and opportunities. He is also Vice Chairman of the None Profit Organization Safe a Boy Child, where he makes sure art is alive and young people are inspired to participate and earn a living from their gifts.
Born and raised in the birthplace of house music, i.e., Chicago, trumpet player Ron Haynes played with Liquid Soul, recording on all four of the band’s CDs, including the Grammy-nominated album, Here’s The Deal.
Haynes has played with Gentlemen of Leisure, The Ohio Players, Bernie Mac, Ramsey Lewis and the Urban Knights, toured the world with Lenny Kravitz, toured Europe with Lucky Peterson, performed in a five-year run of Ella, a six-month run of The Buddy Holly Story, and The Ron Haynes Game Changers.
On his part, Tacboy is the vocalist/lyricist of ET Boys, whose series of hit singles include “Sober,” “Coca Boys,” and “Drift Banger,” along with their debut album, Forever Night. In addition to his musical accomplishments, Tacboy models for IMG, and recently had a supporting role in the movie Buried Onions.
Renowned for his visceral, sensual vocals, Tacboy infuses any song with dangerous, beguiling tones.
“If I Drop” rolls out on a thumping nu-house rhythm, thick and dripping with suggestive, pulsating cadence. Swirling synths infuse the tune with hints of psychedelia as Tacboy’s wickedly erotic vocals imbue the lyrics with voluptuous timbres, giving the song molten carnal flavors.
Haynes’ dazzling trumpet injects delicious warbling accents and bravura effects, suffusing the harmonic flow with luminous flashes of organic erotica.
