New York-based pop singer-songwriter Sabrina Monique introduces her brand-new single, “My Drink,” via United World Records. “My Drink” follows on the heels of her single/music video “Sideshow,” which was mastered by Randy Merrill (Katy Perry, Muse, and Lorde), and “More Than A Friend.”
Sabrina explains, “Although the song is called ‘My Drink’ it encapsulates a far deeper meaning to me than a fun night out. Up until now, I have shown the world that music is my outlet to express hardship and heartache along with past traumatic experiences and how they’ve impacted me. This song is about letting go of ALL of that, reclaiming your power, and not caring about what other people think while doing so. This song is a natural progression in my artistry, and I think my listeners will enjoy hearing/seeing the shift in my music as well as myself.”
While creating her own irresistibly unique sound, Sabrina finds inspiration in the music of Amy Winehouse, Dua Lipa, Joss Stone, Bebe Rexa, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Billie Eilish, and Jojo. A contestant on American Idol 2020, Sabrina has been featured in elite outlets such as Wonderland Magazine, Pop Off, Notion Magazine, and CLASH.
“My Drink” opens on shimmering tones, gliding on low-slung waves of percolating energy. Sabrina’s crème de la crème voice imbues the lyrics with nuanced timbres and tight passion. On the chorus, hints of funk-lite give the rhythm a tasty, alluring cadence.
There’s a delicious, evocative texture to Sabrina’s vocals, sending luscious sensations rippling through listeners’ diaphragms. It’s an exquisite voice under scrumptious lilting control.
Sabrina Monique has it going on! On “My Drink,” she parades her captivating voice atop creamy, iridescent leitmotifs. “My Drink” hits the sweet spot.
