Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter zleephouse releases the visuals for “I LOVED YOU MORE1,” an archetypical pop-punk breakup song.
Speaking to the song, zleephouse shares, “When listening to ‘I LOVED YOU MORE!,’ I just want people to fucking feel it. I want people to really learn to let go and scream. This song isn’t for the faint of heart – it’s for anyone who is just ready to fucking lose it.”
On “I LOVED YOU MORE!” zleephouse teams up with Jconn on production and Trent Culkin, who plays guitar. The song marks zleephouse’s first foray into the realm of pop-punk, a sound he is now addicted to. In fact, he has stated openly he will be venturing into the pop-punk arena more often.
Inspired by actual events in his own life, “I LOVED YOU MORE!” relates zleephouse’s tendency to give more of himself to the relationship than his partner. Writing the song gave him insight into the distinction between wanting more from your other half, and them actually not giving back the same amount of love as you are.
Born in L.A., zleephouse grew up in Dallas. Four years ago, he moved back to L.A. but considers both cities his homes. While fundamentally a singer-songwriter, he involves himself in everything, including production. He uses his art to convey his personal painful experiences to help others heal and realize they are not alone.
His sound blends elements of G-funk, hip-hop, and alt-pop into unique sonic creations.
“I LOVED YOU MORE!” opens on oscillating colors rolling into a gleaming, potent melody rife with heady pop-punk textures. Full of punk angst, zleephouse’s voice infuses the lyrics with cutting flavors. As the harmonics level up, the tune takes on heaving energy as surging guitars snarl and rumble with tight tones.
zleephouse has it going on! He brings back the grimacing, pouting, scowling dynamics of raw pop-punk combined with scathing lyrics.
