Nathan Trent will represent Austria at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.

The contest will take place in the International Exhibition Centre in Kiev, Ukraine in May 2017, after Jamala won the contest last year with “1944”.  It will be the 62nd edition of the show.

Austria will be hoping to recreate the success they had in 2014 when Conchita Wurst won the competition with “Rise Like A Phoenix”.

In previous years Austria used a national final to select their representative. However, this year the Austrian broadcaster ORF have used an internal selection. A team including music experts Eberhard Forcher and Christof Straub searched the music scene in Austria. They invited Nathan to submit a song before choosing him as Austria’s representative.

Nathan will write the song for his entry. The song will be released in February 2017.

    Nathan’s career so far

Nathan is a singer-songwriter in the pop and R’n’B genres. He speaks both Italian and German and began to play violin and piano when he was only three years old. Nathan has been songwriting since he was eleven and has performed in the Theater in der Josefstadt.

He released his debut single “Like It Is” in June this year. You can watch the video below..

The Eurovision Song Contest 2017 semi-finals will take place on 9 May 2017 and 11 May 2017, with the grand final expected to take place on 13 May 2017.
