Ever wanted to take a trip back to the sixties?
Well, Simple Plan’s video for the “Singing In The Rain” has done just that. One of our favourites off their new album Taking One For the Team, this is definitely one of our favourite videos as well! We’re also loving the 60’s themed outfits. The band is looking rather snazzy in those suits.
The music video shows both the rise and the fall of a band, starting off at a mostly-empty venue. Throughout the video, we see the band getting signed and working their way up the charts as well as into bigger (and more crowded) venues. A little like their own success story, but with cardigans, polos, and less eyeliner. As if we didn’t love them enough, the band had fans be a part of the video as well, as long as they dressed in the 60’s style.
They also made a point to hint at something many artists and bands have to deal with on the way up: tabloids. We laugh at them with the mellow song in the background but unfortunately, we’ve all seen similar or more ridiculous headlines such as someone’s “mysterious past” and of course, the rumour that pretty much any group has had to tolerate: someone going solo.
We’ve yet to see any cult-joining claims though, and we hope it stays that way.
Haven’t yet seen the video? Here it is!
