Sydney, Australia-based indie alt-pop artist Nick de la Hoyde released his brand-new single/lyric video, “Stay By Me,” just a few days ago.
Speaking to the track, Nick shares, “Sometimes it takes something unfortunate to happen for you to wake up and realize the love around you. I was guilty of taking things in life for granted and at my lowest moment, it was so clear to me what mattered in life and what didn’t. ‘Stay By Me’ is an uplifting track with a heap of energy that helped me lift out of that space. I wanted the guitars, drums, and dreamy synths to elevate with my vocal and take the listener on a ride.”
Multi-talented, Nick releases solo music, along with writing and performing with electro-pop trio D.E.L, collaborating with other artists, like DFUX, Tom Ferry, and Hoved, and co-writing with artists on labels such as Sony, Universal, Warner, and City Pop Records.
“Stay By Me” opens on shimmering swirls of pop washes topped by Nick’s plush, polished voice, reflecting velvety quixotic savors. Supple panting harmonies imbue the tune with glowing echoes of color as gleaming melodic textures give the harmonics tantalizing flavors, warm and alluring.
Nick’s deliciously dulcet tones infuse the lyrics with palpable intimacy as he narrates his need for understanding and his awareness of undervaluing his lover’s devotion.
“Feeling so tired but I’m lying awake / Left in a room gave me pills for the pain / I’m trying to fix what is broken in me / HA HA HA / Moments of mine yeah they’re passing me by / I can’t see the stars or the clouds in the sky / I just wanna give you the love that you need / HA HA HA.”
Low-slung, silky, and enticingly irresistible, “Stay By Me” offers deluxe alt-pop coloration and emotionally charged vocals.
