We already know Gal Gadot and Chris Pine will star in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie, but now it looks like the superhero flick could add Australian star Nicole Kidman. The Wrap claims Kidman will play a powerful Amazonian warrior in the superhero flick if negotiations are successful.
Speculation has already whipped into high gear over exactly who Kidman could be playing. Some corners of the internet suggest Kidman could be the villain of the piece, with others claiming the Oscar winning actress might act as Wonder Woman’s mentor. If the latter is the case, a good shout may be Queen Hyppolyta, the mother of Wonder Woman Diana Prince.
It seems to be a growing trend in comic book movies to add seasoned actors in supporting roles. Earlier this year Michael Douglas appeared in Marvel’s Ant-Man, while next year’s Doctor Strange will feature British actress Tilda Swinton.
Wonder Woman will hit multiplexes in June 2017 with Gal Gadot of Fast and Furious fame taking the role of the Amazonian heroine. Star Trek’s Chris Pine will star opposite Gadot as love interest Steve Trevor, who originates in the comic books. As is only appropriate for such a film it will be the first major superhero movie directed by a woman. Patty Jenkins, best known for crime drama Monster, will helm the project.
