Los Angeles-based electronic music artist Nitepunk unveils his debut album, HUMAN, via HARD Records.
Talking about the making of the album, Nitepunk shares, “During the creation of this album, there were many radical changes that affected my workflow and environment. At the very end, it seemed like everything was falling into place, and the project became exactly what it was meant to be. I am excited to share this with the world and step into the next journey of new experiences and inspirations. I called this album ‘HUMAN’ because it’s very complex musically and emotionally, as we all are. I wanted to capture raw emotions and experiences through music because that’s the one thing in this life that I know best.”
Originally from Georgia, the former Soviet republic, Nitepunk began dancing and raving at a young age. Later, he went to New York, where, influenced by the underground scene, he focused on his music.
Nitepunk explains, “Moving to America was monumental for my personal and artistic growth. I had hit a massive reset button on my entire life and all of a sudden, I was in New York on my own. This album reflects every moment of my time here. I wanted every track to be a record I could be proud of, where I would have the freedom to push my own musicality. When I approach a song, I’m always trying to capture where I currently am in my life so when it was time to put the album together, I realized that all the ideas I had written over the past six years were representing significant episodes in my life.”
Relocating to Los Angeles, Nitepunk’s rapidly blossomed, becoming known for his galvanizing live shows and innovative sound, merging elements of breakbeat and bass.
Comprising 15 tracks, HUMAN begins with “Grounded,” opening on emerging swirling tones, followed by ramping up to a potent rhythm and electrifying leitmotifs, with dramatic drop-offs moussing up to bold, brilliant layers of harmonics.
Entry points include the striking syncopated rhythm of “Hyperdust,” topped by strident, blaring tones surging with ferocious energy. Whereas “MTV” rolls out on cacophonous, glaring colors, and then takes on savors of industrial hip-hop as Nitepunk’s tight rapping flow sets the lyrics on fire.
“I’m Not Yours And You’re Not Mine,” featuring Yianna, travels on resplendent washes of synths, and then transitions into contagious rhythmic pulses as Yianna’s deliciously sensuous vocals imbue the lyrics with hints of R&B savors.
A personal favorite because of its slow, radiant intro, “Sober” features stacked, gleaming layers of textures riding a captivating, syncopated beat.
Nitepunk ties the album off with the gorgeous “Better Off,” once again featuring the alluring vocals of Yianna.
Nitepunk has it going on! HUMAN surges with wild dynamism and tasty melodic interludes, providing listeners with an amazing experience.
