OneRepublic have unveiled the powerful music video for their latest track ‘Start Again’ featuring Logic.
The visual sees Ryan Tedder, Zach Filkins, Drew Brown, Brent Kutzle, and Eddie Fisher face life in a post apocalyptic world. Walking through streets full of litter and debris, they enter an abandoned building where a hologram of Logic gives them a glimmer of hope that it’s not too late to change their situation.
The band are later approached by armed men who walk them out of the building. Once they’re out in the open air again, they look to the sky and see a nuclear bomb. With a blink of an eye, they are transported back to the present day and we realise that the events prior were just a figment of the band’s imagination. However, we then see Ryan looking out the window, before walking past a television with a news alert which states ‘Global Warming Beyond Point Of No Return’ and ‘Nuclear War Edges Closer’.
The poignant video reminds us that sadly the band’s ‘dream’ will soon be our truth and reality unless we take better care of our planet. Whilst it is possible to apply the track to any kind of situation, it’s great to see OneRepublic add another meaning to the song whilst using their platform to raise awareness of such a pressing environmental issue. We only get one world, so it’s vital that we take better care of it.

This is not the first time that OneRepublic have raised awareness about the importance of looking after our planet. Their 2017 track ‘Truth To Power’, taken from Al Gore’s movie An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth To Power, told an important story about battling climate change through its lyrics and video.
‘Start Again’ is taken from the soundtrack to season two of 13 Reasons Why. Season two is available to stream on Netflix now.
