Hailing from the picturesque valley town of Ferndale in Wales, Otto Aday’s musical journey has been steeped in authenticity and innovation. Raised under the watchful gaze of rolling hills, Otto Aday’s early exposure to records, coupled with his father’s craftsmanship in converting an old Post Office into a unique family home, set the stage for his artistic evolution. Discovering his passion for music at a young age, he started strumming a guitar at nine and honed his skills through busking and local gigs. His talent and determination led him to transform his bedroom into a makeshift studio, where he prolifically wrote and recorded. In 2019, he released the independent “Post” EP, inspired by correspondence with neighbours. His breakthrough came during a pandemic-era songwriting competition on Trackd, catching the attention of none other than music legend Dave Stewart, leading to a signing with Bay Street Records. A transatlantic journey to Nashville ensued, resulting in his 2023 debut album “Persona”, co-produced with Dave Stewart. Otto Aday’s music defies temporal confines, blending alternative spirit with nostalgic melodies and British rock energy. With an album fueled by moments and people that left indelible marks on his life, Otto Aday is poised to captivate the world with his cinematic soundscape and genuine storytelling.
Talking about the track, Otto Aday said: “On Halloween, I went to York dressed as Charlie Chaplin. I was in a hostel, and this young American lady came down the staircase and said, ‘Oh my God, I love Charlie Chaplin!’ It turned out she had travelled to England for a screenwriting internship. We hit it off from the word go and went on an adventure across the UK; we stumbled across an old cathedral, and I whisked her away to a fantasy-like village where every house is a bookstore. The moments we spent felt timeless and suspended in midair, maybe that’s why I liken her to the stars. It blossomed into a beautiful friendship; I definitely love her in some sense. I’m immortalising the relationship in the song.”
