Yes, we know, “Last Resort” wasn’t released until September 2000, so it isn’t quite 18 years old – just yet – but it will be soon so what a way to celebrate than to release a remix of the track. Papa Roach’s debut song has been remixed by Kayzo and it’s a lot slower than expected and yet just as great to listen to.
The song was a total surprise to Papa Roach fans and there was a lot of mixed thoughts on this release. Regardless, we can’t help but love it for what it is. We agree that you can’t beat the original, but it’s nice to hear it remixed and given a refreshed style.
News from Papa Roach is that they plan on heading to the studio next month to start recording their tenth studio album. It will be the follow-up to 2017’s “Crooked Teeth” which became one-year-old days before this remix of “Last Resort” was officially released.
As for Kayzo, whose real name is Hayden Capuozzo, he’s been working on his music career for some time and even went viral when he collaborated with RIOT on the track “Wake Up”, which received over 200,000 plays in less than 24 hours. He has hundreds of thousands of followers on SoundCloud which explains why he is one of the DJs to watch either this year or next year. He has also released official remixes for Calvin Harris, Skrillex, DJ Snake, Porter Robinson, Zara Larsson, Alesso, and many more.
This remix definitely brings the nostalgia. Kayzo has slowed the whole thing down. It’s a modern refresh of the track, so although the vocals are intact and the guitar rhythm can be heard behind, there’s undeniable drops, basslines and synths that just gives this a brilliant twist that certainly brings something new to the table when it comes to this song.
