Whether you like it or not, the nights are getting longer, darker, and colder, which can only mean one thing – Christmas is just around the corner! And while it may still be another two weeks until December, Pentatonix agree with us that it’s never too early to get into the festive spirit!
If you’re looking for a new take on an old classic, their uplifting cover of ‘Joy To The World’ may be for you. The a cappella quintet posted the video for their first festive cover of the year to their YouTube channel PTXofficial asking if we are “ready for the holidays?”. Joy To The World is one of five new tracks on the deluxe version of their 2014 holiday album That’s Christmas To Me.
Their arrangement is even more upbeat and joyful than the original and is guaranteed to make you smile through the dark winter nights. We think that this cover is the perfect soundtrack to a cosy evening in front of the fire to get you into the Christmas spirit!
Last year, Pentatonix released a stream of festive hits from their That’s Christmas To Me album including a cover of White Winter Hymnal by Fleet Foxes – the video for which would put Pitch Perfect’s ‘Cups’ to shame – and a feel good mash-up of Winter Wonderland/Don’t Worry Be Happy which was a collaboration with singer-songwriter, and good friend of the band, Tori Kelly.
What do you think of their cover – do you enjoy hearing a modern twist on a traditional song? When it comes to festive favourites, are you more Fairytale of New York or All I Want For Christmas Is You? Or is November far too early to be thinking about Christmas?
