Glitter, the brand-new EP from indie-pop duo Peppermint Heaven, conveys an electrifying amalgamation of guitars, synths, and contagious rhythms, delivering the grand feel and sound of ‘80s pop music.
Los Angeles-based, Peppermint Heaven comprises the talents of Spark (vocals, bass, drums), and Juno (vocals, keyboards). Peppermint Heaven arrived with the release of their first single, “Plenty of Time,” riding onto the Music Week Club Chart’s Top 10.
The pair released Precious Things, their debut album, in 2016, followed by Curious Things in 2017, and Perfect Things in 2018, followed by their 2021 self-titled album. During 2022, they dropped a double whammy of EPs, Rocktropolis, and Poptropolis. Brimming with the energy of ‘70s rock, Rocktropolis set the stage for the heady savors of ‘80s synthpop featured on Poptropolis.
With more than 15 million Spotify streams, along with over 500,000 views on TikTok, Peppermint Heaven’s unique sound and infectious appeal continue to captivate audiences, establishing them as one of the most exciting and boundary-pushing artistic projects extant.
Encompassing four tracks, Glitter opens with “Disco Lights,” traveling on a Bee Gee’s-like driving rhythm topped by delicious vocals. Smooth, gleaming textures infuse the melody with creamy, sparkling motion as radiant vocal harmonies imbue the lyrics with creamy effervescence.
Riding a funky rhythm, “Drink It Up” reveals a swanky, swaying flow, highlighted by glossy guitars and glowing coloration. Lusciously dreamy vocals give the tune feel-good dynamics.
A bit darker and more melancholic, “Do You Wanna Know Me” rolls out on a syncopated rhythm, oozing synths, and alluring vocals smoldering with quixotic yearning. While the final track, “Love Is The Answer,” conjures up suggestions of the scrummy, electronic surfaces of Kraftwerk. Layers of synths blend to deliver diaphanous percolating colors.
