Get ready to say Salve to your favourite idiots once more as it has been confirmed that ITV2’s hit comedy Plebs will return for a fifth series in 2019.

As reported by British Comedy Guide, the news was announced at the Edinburgh Television Festival by ITV’s head of digital channels, Paul Mortimer.

If you’re unfamiliar with the comedy gold that is Plebs, then let us fill you in. Written by Tom Basden (who also plays Aurelius) and Sam Leifer, the sitcom follows Marcus (Tom Rosenthal) and his slave, Grumio (Ryan Sampson), as they go about their daily lives in Ancient Rome.

In the first three series, they were joined by Stylax (Joel Fry), however, after an unfortunate accident involving a slab, his character was replaced by Jason (Jonathan Pointing) in series four.

Details surrounding series five are few and far between but it is expected that Tom, Ryan and Jonathan will be reprising their roles as Marcus, Grumio, and Jason, respectively.

It also seems that the show will soon be making its way across the pond, as earlier this year, it was reported that Seth Rogen is developing a US remake. His production company Point Grey Pictures will co-produce it with Rise Films, who currently produce the show in the UK.

Whilst we patiently await for series five of Plebs, check out this hilarious blooper reel from series four.

Series 1-4 of Plebs can be bought on DVD or digital download, whilst series 1-3 can also be streamed on Netflix.
