Indie-pop diva Ashley Delima premieres her new single on CelebMix. Entitled “Fire In The Sky,” the song is a musical bulwark to tyranny and a paean to independence and the power of love.
Co-written by Delima, Brielle Brown, and two-time Grammy winner Marc Swersky, the track was mixed by Grammy winner Tony Black. Following on the heels of Delima’s debut single, “Stay in America,” and the remarkably impressive “Cigarette,” which accumulated more than 100,000 streams on Spotify almost overnight, the new single lays bare Delima’s evolving songwriting and vocal gifts.
According to Delima, “As an artist, I never wanted to be like everyone else. I wanted to be different in a positive way. I always want to be real, never settling into a safe zone so that I could tell the truth in my music. I don’t want to be quiet about something I think is wrong. I’m trying to spread unity and the fact that despite our differences, we are all connected and in this together. It’s important to share love.”
Recently signed to the Monocentric Music/Onerpm label, Delima’s intoxicating sound captured endorsements from The Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch, and MAC Cosmetics, as well as allowing her to share the stage with Brazil’s superstar Hungria Hip-Hop on his East Coast tour.
Delima’s debut EP, written by Swersky, Brown, and Delima, is slated to drop summer 2019, and features a who’s who of musicians, including Daniel Sadownick (percussion), Vin Landolfi (guitar), Eli Menezes (guitar), Alan Markley (piano), and Adam Jackson (drums).
“Fire In The Sky” opens on gleaming guitar riffs and a tight addictive rhythm flowing into a cool, stylish pop melody. Streaming synths inject sweeping accents, as Delima’s gorgeously affluent tones fill the tune with delicious urgent timbres.
The harmonics swell with suffusing wall-of-sound resonance on the chorus. Delima’s mesmerizing tones soar backed by radiant vocal harmonies. Pervaded by sublime textures of colors, the tune concludes on layers of surging hues, imbuing the harmonics with glorious momentum and haunting surfaces.
“Fire In The Sky” goes beyond excellent and enters the realm of superlative. Delima’s diva voice elevates the song to bravura levels.
