Canadian singer-songwriter Nukky premieres the music video for “Break My Fall” on CelebMix, a song about loyalty and love from Nukky’s forthcoming album, Well, Here We Are, slated to drop March 19.
Working out of Kyngdom Studios in Ontario, Nukky mentors artists and writes songs with and for others. Formerly a creative director, graphic designer, and A&R, Nukky knows how artists think and feel.
“I think I’m able to relate to artists so well because I am one, first and foremost. Music, fashion, graphic design, writing, mixed media type stuff, I’m into it all,” Nukky states.
Prior to releasing a few singles in 2017 and 2018, Nukky went on hiatus, working behind-the-scenes, getting ready to unleash his new music, building on the sound and reputation he had already established by winning the John Lennon Songwriting Award, CAN Marketing Award, Independent Music Award, and charting on CMJ’s Top-40 with his IAMGRISSY EP (2012).
With his singular creative vision, he eschews the so-called “normal” so prevalent in today’s music industry, where much of the music sounds the same.
According to Nukky, “I really don’t care about what I’m ‘supposed’ to be doing or what societal norms I’m apparently supposed to be living by. I mean, who sets the norm anyways? I’m just trying to be a good person and do things I enjoy doing, which usually means I’m doing something creative.”
“Break My Fall” opens with light, shimmering guitars and a velvety flowing melody blending elements of soul, R&B, and hints of alt-pop. A measured, potent rhythm infuses the tune with a tight buff groove reminiscent of hip-hop.
Nukky’s voice, smooth, rich, and radiating silky textures, imbues the lyrics with tender eloquence and quixotic hues.
The video, cool and stylish, depicts the delicious mood and feel associated with unconditional love arrayed in constancy.
“Break My Fall” is a wonderment, touching, full of glossy flowing colors and surfacing glimmering tones, along with the polished voice of Nukky.
