Yesterdays season six, summer finale of ABC Family’s most popular show promised to deliver the most important answers to the thousands upon thousands of questions that have led viewers on to what seemed to be a never-ending puz[Tweet “PLL Finale Not Satisfying For Fans?!”]zle since the show premiered in 2010. So how successful were they in achieving this? According to Deadline.com, the show averaged 3.1 million viewers and was the most popular cable show of the night. In the social media world, nearly 1.6 million tweets were generated about the show, making the episode the fourth most tweeted show in scripted cable TV history!
While the show may have achieved incredible ratings and a strong social performance, were they as successful in achieving what they promised regarding providing satisfying answers? In my opinion, yes and no. Yes, in the fact that they finally revealed the face behind who has been torturing the girls we have been obsessing over for the past five years. “Who is A?” is the question that the show has been taunting us with for years and they finally answered it, so shouldn’t we be satisfied?
#CeCeisA is probably one of my least favorite hash tags that the show has created because the revelation of CeCe being “A” is the least bit satisfying. It doesn’t make sense. I don’t care about CeCe anymore, in fact, I never really connected with her when she was on the show to begin with. Also, don’t even get me started with Sara. It’s not satisfying that a character who just was introduced to the show could actually be responsible for the show’s most agonizing questions. There are so many other ways the show could have gone! For example, Wren. Wren would have been the perfect “A.” In fact, many fans “connected the dots” throughout the years and are able to prove why he would do this to the girls.
Overall, the finale squashed many fan theories and left others with the following reactions:
