Remember To Forget
Author: Ashley Royer

Originally posted on Wattpad as a 5 Seconds of Summer fanfiction, this newly published novel is not to be taken lightly. Although fanfictions derive from imaginative scenarios of alternate universes, you can’t take away the fact that these stories serve as a mirror of the society we have today. Whether you’re experiencing the plot personally or just familiar with other people’s situations, it gives us in-depth examples of what possibly goes on in someone’s brain.
In the story, the main character, Levi Harrison (portrayed as Luke Hemmings in the fanfiction version online) suffers from deep depression which caused him to be mute for several months. The death of his girlfriend, Delia, caused him to cease all speech interactions with anyone, even with his own family. For his own benefit and well-being, Levi is sent to move in with his father in Maine, in hopes of seeing some positive changes sooner or later.
Levi’s character, although it is dark and complex, is one to spike the interest of the reader with his opinions on life. Although he might be brooding and rude towards the people around him, there’s always a reason behind his actions which is very detailed with how the book is written.
Though many novels are written in third-person point-of-view, this book outclasses itself in its category because of how Levi and Delilah’s POVs are detailed in each chapter alternatively giving us a better view to state our opinions in their situation.
The story’s transition from dark to happy might take a bit while throughout the book, but it is written in a way that the reader won’t get tired of reading the same sad phase over and over again. The plot advances at the character’s own phase making it enjoyable to skim through as major events in Levi’s life happen from time to time.
Overall the book is a must read for young adults who either suffer from the same mental health as Levi or just really enjoy a good read about romance, friendship, family and caring for your own self. In any way you look at it, it will serve as an inspiration and a little bit of lesson about real life’s problems.
