Los Angeles, California-based DJs, and producers RIOT release their new single, “Buck Shots,” via Deadbeats. The single marks RIOT’s ten-year anniversary.
The duo explains, “‘Buck Shots’ was a journey from start to finish! An extension of our quest to explore new, innovative sounds. We continued to incorporate hip-hop-inspired elements with bass music while creating a piece of art that takes you on a musical journey. We’ve been eager to try the fusion of hard-hitting bass music with hip-hop and orchestral music for a long time. Easily one of our favorite tunes we wrote recently and we’re super excited for it to be our debut single with Deadbeats!”
Made up of Tom Davidson and Daniel Magid, who were both born and raised in Israel, RIOT has dropped red-hot hits on Monstercat, Dim Mak, and Insomniac Records, and has collaborated with Kayzo, Slander, and Dirty Phonics. Their collaboration with Kayzo on “Wake Up” amassed more than 35 million streams on Spotify and is one of the most-played dubstep tracks on the platform.
Their collaboration with Slander on “You Don’t Even Know Me,” featured on Slander’s EP Headbangers Ball, has collected over 15 million streams on Spotify and hit the top 10 on iTunes’ Dance Charts.
“Buck Shots” travels on gleaming piano tones, elevating to a thick trap rhythm topped by luminous orchestral leitmotifs. A shimmering drop shifts the harmonics to a massive bassline and resonant, rumbling percussion as intense vocals add edgy timbres.
Another drop leads to dynamic, classical layers of music and numinous vocals, and then resurfaces into the heavy trap rhythm. The amalgamation of trap, bass, and symphonic textures generates a muscular tune rife with titanic heft and dramatic, majestic highlights.
Brimming with reckless dynamism, gigantic beats, a subterranean bassline, and luscious symphonic strata, “Buck Shots” hits the bull’s eye.
