Back in 1992, Prince William’s mother (better known as Princess Diana of Wales) visited the ravishing Taj Mahal in India; a visit that will continue to be historical as life goes on.
Now just twenty-four years later, her son and his wife – Kate Middleton, will be making their way to do the same. It will be quite an emotional trip seeing that Diana’s visit has remained a large staple in everyone’s memory. Her soft, loving, and genuine care for all of whom she was surrounded by, is a constant reminder that chivalry is not dead unless you allow it to be.
“I feel incredibly lucky to visit a place where my mother’s memory is kept alive by so many who travel there.” – Prince William’s statement, released by Jason Knauf –The Cambridge’s communications secretary.
“Twenty-four years on from her visit to the Taj, the duke and duchess are looking forward to seeing this beautiful place for themselves, and creating new memories as they say thank you to the people of India at the conclusion of the tour.” – Jason Knauf
William and Kate will begin their tour of India and Bhutan on April 10th and will continue until April 16th. In their paths of traveling, the royals will be paying a tribute to the Mumbai hotel, where 166 people were killed under attack back in 2008. They also are set to hike nearly seven hours to visit Paro Taktsang, which is known as the largest Tiger’s nest monastery since 1692. Unfortunately during this time, it is likely that we won’t be receiving any cute baby photos of Prince George and Princess Charlotte. sigh
Another importance of this trip is to mellow out the negativity and recent controversy towards the Duke. There were several complaints after reports had been released stating he carried out only 87 appearances in the United Kingdom during 2015 – 35 of which were international affairs.
We know what you’re thinking, 87 is a decent amount of appearances. But when your 94 year old grandfather (a.k.a the Duke of Edinburgh) tops you with 250 appearances during 2015, 87 doesn’t sound too lovely anymore.
BUT nevertheless, we are eagerly awaiting William and Kate’s arrival in just a few weeks. We are certain of the many accomplishments they will achieve in their visitation and sincerely wish them the best of luck!
