Multi-talented DJ/producer and creator Sam Blacky, aka Samantha Black, releases “Salvador,” the third and final track from her EP, Bogota, via Thrive Music.
Talking about the EP, Sam Blacky says, “Travel has been my biggest inspiration since I started my journey in the dance music scene. Immersing myself in different cultures and being around people from all around the world has given me the tools to go into the studio and make music that resonates with my soul. ‘Salvador’ and all the tracks on the ‘Bogota’ EP capture all the feels from my travels these past 12 months – and shine a light on rhythms and sounds that have stayed with me and made me who I am today. Enjoy!”
Originally from San Diego, Sam spent time in Australia, where she discovered her love for producing and performing live. Since moving back to L.A., Sam has performed around the globe, from Mexico to Ibiza to Bali, at elite festivals and clubs throughout the world, including Miami Music Week and Coachella after parties in Guatemala and Vietnam.
Sam’s sound merges elements of funk with soothing textures from house, techno, and tribal music, a sound that has attracted devotees of the underground and burner dance culture. Along with being a musical sensation, she is also a model, whose portfolio includes brands such as Nike, L’Oréal, Galore, Marie Claire, Superdry, Guess, Sports Illustrated, Malibu, and Playboy.
During the pandemic, Sam released a series of videos on YouTube called “A New World,” live-streaming sets from some of her favorite places in Mexico, giving viewers a taste of vacation vibes even while staying safe at home.
Following the release of her first EP on her own label, Stabby Records, Sam has also released singles with Repopulate Mars, Terms & Conditions, and now Thrive Music as well as an official remix for the viral TikTok single “Gaslight” by Inji.
“Salvador” rolls out on layered shimmering colors riding syncopated percussion and a fat, thrumming bassline, infusing the tune with an alluring tech house rhythm. Gliding tribal vocals imbue the song with delicious tropical surfaces, floating and sailing on delicious textures across a soundscape of lush exotic flavors.
With “Salvador,” drenched in a luscious blend of evocative Latin and Afrobeat tangs, Sam Blacky creates a wickedly captivating song.
