2015 was a big year for former football star turned country artist Sam Hunt. According to Billboard’s year end charts, his debut album, Montevallo, was the top country album of 2015.
Hunt co-wrote all ten of the album’s tracks. Two of those tracks appear in the Top 5 of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. “Take Your Time” tops the Hot Country Songs chart and “House Party” is at number three.
Montevallo sold 70,000 copies its first week, helping it debut at No. 1, and has yielded three chart-topping singles so far.
This puts a cap on what was an amazing year for Sam Hunt. He’s earned a Grammy nomination for “Best New Artist”, an award he won at the Country Music Awards and the American Music Awards. He also won the ASPAC Award for Songwriter-Artist of the Year, and he garnered many other nominations as well.
