Evil is coming your way.
CBS brought their brand new mystery series to Ballroom 20 during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. After revealing a sneak peek into the first episode, the executive producers/writers, Robert King & Michelle King, along with the main cast took the stage to speak more on the show.
Katja Herbers plays Kristen Bouchard, a psychologist who teams up with priest-in-training David Acosta (Mike Colter) and Ben Shakir (Aasif Mandvi) to investigate the church’s list of unexplained mysteries ranging anywhere from miracles to demonic possessions to hauntings. But don’t worry, “it’s not the exorcist,” says Robert King.
Instead, the show will dive deeply into the dividing line between science and religion while also teetering between the idea of good versus evil. What makes good? What makes us evil? Aasif Mandvi comments on this, “There’s an idea [that in] all of us exists a capacity to do good or bad. […] The show thinks about that struggle.”
Robert King also comments, “The country is full of people with different religion and politics with strong opinions. […] When you listen, you can learn something. […] People can tune in and no matter what you feel, you can relate to something.”
Also included in the show and on the panel was Michael Emerson (Person of Interest) who will portray Leland Townsend with a terrifying presence. He’s set to appear in 10 of the slated 15 episodes.
Evil premieres Thursday, September 26 on CBS. Check out the full trailer below.
