Selena Gomez has teamed up with rising star Trevor Daniel for the highly anticipated remix of his track ‘Past Life’.
The trap-infused pop track sees the pair letting go of toxic relationships and who they used to be in the past. Trevor and Selena sound sensational together, and the ‘Boyfriend’ songstress brings a real freshness to the emotive song, giving it a new lease of life.
Last night was the last night of my past life
Got me here like you could never figure me out
Last night was the last time, was the last time
I never let you figure me out
Speaking about why she resonated with ‘Past Life’ so much, in a video on Twitter Selena said: “When I heard the song the first time, I loved the fact that it was kind of like a story about all the things that we tend to hold onto and the patterns that we have. And I’m very, very vocal about my personal experiences [and] making decisions that maybe aren’t necessarily healthy for me.”
‘Past Life’ comes accompanied by a clever lyric video which depicts Trevor and Selena on an Instagram live, with the lyrics coming through as comments from different users.
Trevor originally released the FINNEAS-produced ‘Past Life’ earlier this year. The track is taken from his debut album Nicotine.
Trevor launched his music career in 2018 with his debut EP Homesick. However, it was the track ‘Falling’ which propelled him to global success, topping the US Viral 50 and entering the Top 40 in over 20 countries. The track has since become RIAA certified 2x Platinum.
We have no doubt that ‘Past Life’ will be another smash for Trevor, and we can’t wait to see what he does next!
