Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Seth Glier has shared his latest single off of his upcoming album EVERYTHING. The song is called “Mammoth” and is shared alongside a unique and artistic visualizer.
“Mammoth” is a song asking a myriad of important questions. Seth takes the part of a woolly mammoth who was brought back to life and is opening his eyes for the first time in a new world. This narrative might seem crazy, however it might become a reality. As Seth explains, “Scientists Sergey Zimov and Nikita Zimov are in the process of picking through the ice and melting permafrost of northern Siberia for the perfect frozen sample of a woolly mammoth. Their goal is to take the DNA and bring the mammoth back to the plains it once roamed. There is some merit to this idea as a climate solution. The permafrost is one of the largest carbon reservoirs we have. In the grazing ecosystems, mammoths trample snow while foraging during the winter. When the snow is packed beneath their significant weight, it allows deeper freezing of the permafrost and thus protects it from degradation. I was struck by this and how strange it might feel for the mammoth and decided to write the song from its perspective.” The result is an eccentric yet important song contemplating climate solutions and animal’s emotions.
The music video shows beautiful ice patterns and is the perfect accompaniment to the music and message. The song is deeply relaxing with Seth’s warmhearted vocals singing thoughtful lyrics and soothing melodies. Downtempo pop beats and a kaleidoscope of solace induced soundscapes are also featured in this unique sonic offering.
