GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes is back! Following the announcement of his forthcoming self-titled album Shawn, the artist has just dropped two tracks much to the delight of his fans.
‘Why Why Why’ acts as the lead single from Shawn, and is accompanied by a second song called ‘Isn’t That Enough’. Alongside the release of the tracks, a visual for ‘Why Why Why’ has been released, filmed in picturesque Hudson Valley, New York where songs from the album were written and recorded. The video for ‘Why Why Why’ sees Shawn let go of himself and enjoy freedom and the little things, a stark contrast to the deep emotion he unveils on the track.

Speaking on the album in a previous post, Shawn said “Music really can be medicine. Two years ago, I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago, I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift. Honestly thank god for my friends and family. Life can be brutal but having a small group of people you deeply trust to walk you through makes it so much better. I really hope you love this album, I do. I really really do. I hope it makes you feel warm and close to the earth like it does for me.”
Shawn marks the artist’s fifth studio album and was written across many sessions and locations over the past two years. Drawing on his experiences and travels over the past few years, following the cancellation of his 2022 tour, this album marks Shawn’s most intimate and lyrically honest work to date. Written across locations including Costa Rica, Washington, Nashville and New York, Shawn wrote and co-produced the album alongside a small group of collaborators including Scott Harris, Mike Sabath, Eddie Benjamin, Nate Mercereau, Ethan Gruska, Amy Allen, & Chris Thile
Shawn is currently performing the album in full across a series of locations, with a date at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane next week.
Shawn is set for release on October 18. Pre-order it here.
